The 2026/27 Premier League season is under way, and if you have looked at what it costs to follow it all through traditional providers you already know the problem: the rights are split, and following one club properly means paying three or four different companies.
This guide breaks down exactly where matches are shown, what the traditional route costs, and how IPTV changes the maths.
The 2026/27 Season So Far
The season kicked off on Friday 21 August 2026, with champions Arsenal hosting newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates, live on Sky Sports.

The season started a week later than usual this year, to allow recovery time after the expanded 48-team World Cup final on 19 July.
Where Premier League Matches Are Shown in the UK
Rights for 2026/27 are split, and the split is more lopsided than in previous seasons:
- √Sky Sports — 215 live matches. Packages B, C, D and E: over 140 weekend games, Friday and Monday evening fixtures, three full midweek rounds, and for the first time all 10 matches on the final day of the season.
- √TNT Sports — 52 live matches. Package A: exclusive Saturday 12:30 kick-offs plus two full midweek rounds. Worth noting this is TNT's final season with Premier League rights — Paramount takes over from 2027/28.
- √BBC / ITV — highlights, FA Cup and international fixtures.
There is also the 3pm Saturday blackout, a long-standing UK rule that prevents live broadcast of matches kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday. Those fixtures are not shown on UK television at all.
What It Costs the Traditional Way
Approximate UK retail pricing for a full season of football:

Across a ten-month season that lands somewhere near £750–£900 a year, and that is before broadband, before a Sky box, and before any price rise mid-contract. You are also typically locked into an 18 or 24 month contract.

The 3pm Blackout and International Feeds
This is the part most fans care about and most guides skip.
Because the 3pm Saturday blackout is a UK broadcasting rule, it applies to UK broadcasters. Overseas broadcasters showing the same Premier League fixtures are not bound by it, which is why international feeds carry matches that are unavailable on UK television.

What You Need to Watch Football Reliably
Live sport is the hardest test for any streaming service. A film can buffer for two seconds and nobody minds; a buffer during a penalty is unforgivable. Here is what actually matters:
Internet speed. 10Mbps is enough for HD. For 4K streams, aim for 25Mbps or more. Check your speed at peak evening times, not at 10am — that is when it degrades.
A wired connection where possible. Ethernet beats Wi-Fi for live sport every time. A USB ethernet adapter for a Firestick costs a few pounds and eliminates most buffering complaints we receive.

Restart before kick-off. Genuinely. Close and reopen your IPTV app five minutes before the match starts. It clears the buffer and reconnects you to the least loaded server.
Match Day Setup Checklist
Do this once and you will not think about it again:
- √Test your setup during a live match at peak time — not a quiet weekday afternoon
- √Add your sports channels to Favourites so you are not scrolling at 15:00
- √Check the EPG is loading so you can see what is on next
- √Have a backup stream identified for your main channels — most have alternates
- √If you use Wi-Fi, sit the device on 5GHz rather than 2.4GHz
- √Make sure your player is updated to the latest version
Champions League, Europa and Cup Competitions
The Champions League league phase began on Tuesday 8 September 2026 and runs to the final at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid on 5 June 2027. Matchday 2 follows on 13-14 October. UK coverage is split again: TNT Sports carries the majority, while Amazon Prime Video holds 17 matches with first pick of Tuesday evening fixtures. That is another two subscriptions on top of your Premier League ones.
